Uruguay General Strike – 28 June
Port of Tilbury, UK, 26 June 2018: Nisomar, the data-driven maritime services company with port agency at its core, is advising that the PIT-CNT union has called for a general strike in Uruguay on 28 June from 00.00 to 24.00 hours.
The strike is expected to affect all port, government and authority operations nationwide with a total of one million workers in sectors including transportation, healthcare and education anticipated to adhere to the strike. Uruguay has a total population of 3.4 million.
Nisomar is working with its clients to minimise any delays and will keep them updated.
UPDATE: Nisomar is advising that Port Labourers will be participating in the general strike. Port operations will be stopped from 07.00 to 13.00 hours on 28 June. Normal operations will resume from 13.00 hours on 28 June.
